Adopting a pet over Christmas

Have you been thinking about extending your family with a new fur-baby? Having pets can be rewarding in so many ways, and for many of us, pets are an extremely important part of the family.

If you have been thinking about a new four-legged friend, the Christmas holiday period can be a great time to adopt – the holidays can give you lots of time to spend with your new pet and help them settle in and learn the house rules before you head back to work in the new year. However, while it can be a great time to adopt, pets should never be given to someone as a surprise!

MyVet Billinudgel is affiliated with a few different charities and shelters – we help these organisations by providing veterinary care and services such as desexing, microchipping, vaccinating. Some local organisations that do a fantastic job rescuing and re-homing pets include Companion Animal Welfare Inc (CAWI) and Pets for Life Animal Shelter. Right now there are lots of animals (puppies, dogs, cats, kittens and many more) that are waiting for someone special to come along and give them their fur-ever new home. Could it be you??

If now is not the right time for you to introduce a new fur-baby to your household, there are plenty of other ways you can help:

  • You could consider volunteering – that way you can spend some time with animals and give them some love!
  • How about becoming a foster carer for pets on a temporary basis?
  • You can also donate pet food and supplies.
